Caterpillars, the larval stage of several butterfly and moth species, cause damage to many plants and crops.The other parts of the butterfly / moth life cycle i.e. egg , pupae and adults do not harm plants, with the butterflies mainly feeding on nectar. The damage caused by caterpillars can resemble holes in the leaves or ragged edges to the leaves.
Damage can be severe and plants can be disfigured by large amounts of caterpillar excrement.
To control caterpillar infestations safely,The nematodes are sprayed or watered onto the plants infected with caterpillars unlike other nematode treatments, where they are watered into the soil or compost. The nematodes need to come into direct contact with the caterpillars quickly as they will die if left to dry out on the leaf Once the nematodes come into contact with the caterpillars, they will enter through a natural body opening. When they are inside they release a bacteria, the caterpillar dies within a few days. It is more effective against small caterpillars, so apply soon after observationof the caterpillars.
