False Goatsbeard
Astilbe chinensis Vision in Pink
- Position: full sun partial shade
- Soil: moist, humus-rich soil
- Rate of Growth: fast
- Flowering period: July - August
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Dense spires of tiny pale pink flowers appear in midsummer, above a neat mound of shiny, serrated, blue-green leaves. This astilbe is ideal for a moist bog garden or water's edge, but it will also do well in containers if it is kept well watered. This cultivar has long-lasting flowers, and will grow in full sun. In drier soils it will need to be in a shady spot.
- Garden care: Newly planted astilbes need to be well watered until they are established. Lift and divide large clumps every three or four years, discarding old, woody rhizomes.
