  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil, neutral soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Flowering period: July to October
  • Flower colour: pale lilac bell-shaped flowers
  • Other features: long flowering period from mid-summer through to autumn
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Nodding pale lilac, slightly fragrant bells appear from mid-summer to mid-autumn on this viticella clematis. It is perfect for growing through shrubs and trees as each spring the plant is pruned right back and so never becomes too much of a burden on the supporting plant. Plant in full sun with its roots inthe shade.

  • Garden care: Cut back stems to a pair of strong buds 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level before growth begins in early spring. Mulch in late winter with garden compost or well-rotted manure but avoid the immediate crown.
