Protect liners from ice
Ponds with rigid concrete liners can be damaged by ice. When the
water freezes, it expands putting pressure on the liner at the sides
of the pond – eventually causing it to crack. You can prevent this
by floating a inflatable balls on the surface so that the ball
absorbs much of the pressure exerted by the expanding ice.
